Water baptism is an important step of obedience for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Going under the water symbolizes leaving your old life behind, and coming out of the water represents the new life you have in Christ.
The Bible teaches that believers are to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38).
